Ginkgo Gold
Materials: Walnut, pearwood, leather, gold leaf, brass (back)
Dimensions: 32.5 × 32 × 3 cm
Techniques: Slow carving, gilding, frame making
The distinctive shape of the ginkgo leaf naturally asks to be elevated. In this wall piece, the carved leaf floats in front of a gold-leaf background, its form gently echoed in the warm, textured surface behind it.
The golden layer is set against an earthy leather backing, creating a tactile bridge between the shimmering gold and the walnut frame.
Together, these materials form a composition that radiates calm and quiet presence. A small homage to the timeless beauty of the ginkgo leaf.
